pick up a clymer's manual for the bike (if you're going to wrench it yourself). the manual has information on torqueing the bolts. the pattern as i recall is a simple criss-cross. alot of bolts for the cylinder head (about 10) and different lengths. the tip i got here on using a cardboard template helped out quite a bit. just an fyi (i don't think you've found the source of the leak so i wouldn't suggest reseating the cap seal just yet). good luck. t..
